Hello Bloggers, π
Can you believe it?π± We are almost at the finish line.π₯³ Even though this was a short session, it was very informative. It almost feels as if the info was crammed, but that's neither here nor there. Tonight's topic is Comparing and Contrasting "Academic Writing in High School with Academic Writing in College." While both share similarities, they are certainly different. The design of both is to display info in the correct grammatical form, research ideas, and convince your readers. In both parts, you are to use proper citations to avoid plagiarism and credit the original authors. Here are a few points of view on high school and college writing.
High School:
- In high school, academic writing is used to show knowledge to understand a particular subject.
- Writing often draws attention to a formal, neutral voice.
College
- College academic writing is generally more complex than high school writing, both in terms of the topics covered and the level of research required.
- writing is often written for a specific academic audience, such as professors and other scholars.
Kate McKinney Maddalena's essay "Why First Person Is Important in College Writing" argues that first-person pronouns can be used effectively in college writing to strengthen arguments and establish credibility. This is a significant departure from the traditional guidelines in high school writing, which often discourage the use of first-person pronouns.
